Nope, none of those reviews count until ZP reviews it, because he is the only person not on drugs.

My issue is more that since the downturn and so many print & web sites struggling badly, the impact of AAA advertising money on reviews is now clearer than ever.

I'm not saying that Halo: Reach isn't a great console shooter, just that all of these 11/10 frothing 'bestest EVAR' scores - particularly the ones with more nitpicks than would be present in a 8/10 review of a game without gobs of advertising money - are inherently suspect, because they are bought.

This is the last of the mythical creatures shots. The Rok was another one too big for the frame. I did take one wide-angle of the whole thing, but it lacked the drama of this one. And look! I finally have a bird picture to share! ;)

I have dinosaur fossil pictures from this same day, and I also have a series of pictures of Lilburn, GA old town (suburb where I live that is near Atlanta). Anyone have a preference?

I'm not saying your "scenarios" below aren't possible ones, but I really believe part of this comes down to people needing to be more selective who they choose to spend the rest of their lives with.

I bought a house, got married, we had a kid, and then got divorced, so I'm not saying I'm perfect ... but I am saying I made some mistakes and learned a lot from them.

Other than the very first job I ever had (telemarketing for a carpet cleaning place), I've always worked in computers and I.T. It's not only my sole source of income, but also a passionate hobby interest outside of work. Knowing this, I finally concluded that it's just plain foolish for me to try to have a serious relationship with any woman who doesn't "get" the whole technology thing, or thinks it's a "big waste of money". And you know what? That rules out a whole LOT of women out there, who can easily rationalize away their "need" for multi-hundred dollar new dresses or pairs of shoes, but just can't see why you could possibly need a new hard drive when "you already bought one of those things just a few years ago!".

Everyone wants different things out of their relationships ... but I'm just speaking for myself here. Some guys really don't CARE how the money they earn gets spent, as long as they've got a roof over their head, food on the table, and a wife and kids to come home to. Others have to be in control of every penny spent. Still others WANT to have to ask their wife for permission all the time, because they feel they're bad at managing money and would rather leave it up to her to do it all for them.

Right now, I'm about to get married to a terrific woman who works in I.T. like I do, and shares a lot of the same values and interests I have. Neither of us makes the kind of income we'd like to make and with 3 kids between us? Things can get pretty tough at times. But I think both of us share the idea that "If you earn the money yourself, you get to spend it on whatever you want. I don't care or need to know, as long as we've both done our share to cover the essentials first."

Cute story, but it has nothing to do with the situation. Also, you've pointed out that he (who you quoted) was right in his analysis that the factor here was: you earn more than enough money to afford the purchase, therefor, no issue.

iPads are far from "needs", and some people shouldn't be buying them, even though they may want them.

But, some people make stupid decisions, and sometimes the wives of stupid people have to be the one to say, "stupid move, now bring it back"

I don't really care how inefficient Flash is or whether other web standards can already do things that Flash does, but I want to play Farmville on my iPhone and until there is Flash on the iPhone theres not FarmVille on the go :( I don't see why the end user should be punished b/c of this. Flash should be allowed and for everyone who doesn't like Flash just don't use it. I just don't see why some people not liking it should effect the other 30 million iPhone users. Maybe the web developer should have used something else to build their site, thats not my fault, but that doesn't make their sites content any less useful. We should still be able to use it.

Considering it runs like crap on Android from what I have read there is no way as long as steve is around that will go in an iOS.

    http://gigaom.com/video/video-flash-on-android-is-startlingly-bad/

Use Skyfire if you really need it I sure don't miss Flash. :D

And plenty of people who have Droids are happy with their Flash.

Posters here like to cite the average consumer. Well, I submit the average consumers have no negative pov towards Flash (or rather no opinions either way) and while not having it isn't going to keep them from buying iPads/iPhones they'd take it if given the choice.

    IIRC, it's a feature, not a flaw.
Everyone I know who has 4.3 has the double vibrate so it's not just my phone, but I haven't heard anyone else say anything. It's pretty annoying. Anyway, I was just wondering if this fixed that issue or not.

I feel like the cantankerous old man sitting on his porch and yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off his lawn...Yeah, I'm still rockin' the 3G.

Honestly though, I'm going to wait for iPhone5 (or whatever number/letter combo) regardless of when it comes out because I've had a great experience with iPhone. Come July I'll have had the same phone for 3 years, and yeah, it's getting slow and it can't do some of the same things 3GS and 4 users can, but the bottom line for me is that the phone still does everything that it's done since day-one, and still does it well.

This time around, I'm not going to wait in lines, or some of the more crazy stuff like camp out, but whenever it comes out I'll scoop one up.

I think competition from Droid and other phone OS and hardware producers is a good thing, it means a better product hopefully for everyone. And yeah stats do matter, but I think one aspect of technology that gets undervalued is user experience. I've had a great user experience from iPhone, and that's while I'll buy another.

I'm not trying to pee in Apple's Cheerios at all...but i do wonder at what point will they reach a plateau in sales growth. That said, I don't think they're close to it yet...China is becoming a great new market for them...

I think Mac sales are directly tied to the Halo affect of the iOS devices. The more they sell there, the more people open up to Mac as an alternative. With Lion having more iOS like interfaces, it will make it even more natural for new customers.

    B. exactly what property do you think they were protecting? the idea that no company should be allowed to be called apple, in any business, ever? even after the same exact case had been settled before? ever heard of the 5th amendment?

You mean this 5th Amendment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution)?

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Typical that Sony of all companies would leak this out.

What's your point? That competitors will now also use 8MP sensors? Well, they already have been using them for quite a while. Apple is simply doing a catch up here. By the time iPhone gets 8MP, other phones will have 10MP or more.

I laugh at this topic...because it's been yapped about for weeks..."just cut NPR and we'll save $40 million!" Wow...$40mill out of trillions. Yeah, great concept. Why don't we cut out public museums, libraries, and parks while we're at it.

I actually listen to NPR...basically because it's on the classical station I tune into. NPR may be a bit on the Democrat side, but overall I find the stories are at least real news...while offering both sides of the argument.

Queue all the Fox News freaks...

I think the MacRumors posters have solved this problem with their insightful comments.

Now to the most important thing:

Will the iphone and ipad get less expensive when produced in Brazil? LOL

However, I can't agree that the Bible is "neutral" or relative in that it can correctly be interpreted in any way someone chooses. The Bible is clear in it's express purpose as God's revelation of himself to mankind. The Bible is judged and interpreted against itself using the literary and textual tools of interpretation that we have available to us.

Of course not any interpretation is valid; however, the Bible is very complex and contradicts itself in places. There is no set interpretation that can said to be right, rather a spectrum that can be justified. "Clear" is not a word I would use.

Like all communication it can only be correctly interpreted in light of the intended meaning of it's original author. This is where faith comes into the process. Followers of Christ hold to the belief that it is God's inspired and inerrant word. The living God is it's author and he inspired men to write within their own historical and literary context to specific audiences at a specific time. All of these contexts become clues that help guide us to His intended meaning.

This is obviously where we part ways. For me the Bible is the product of man. Nothing more.

God's word calls us to "love one another" and to be servant leaders in bearing one another's burdens. Westboro seeks to judge, spread hate, and cause dissension. Sure they quote scripture and hide behind an illusion of faith, but they take verses out of context and aren't living out God's commands.

However, you are still using one interpretation that you have chosen. There is no way to know if you are right. I agree that WBC are at the extreme end, but the overall message of the Bible doesn't seem to be clear. Just look at the issue of homosexuality- many "normal" (you know what I mean!) Christians find homosexuality difficult to justify, whilst others have no issue with it. The Bible states many times how "wrong" homosexuality is but other passages suggest otherwise. Both interpretations seem to be possible without stretching the facts.

So whilst it may be possible to say the WBC aren't living out God's commands, it's not possible to say whether the Christian that is uncomfortable homosexuals is living out God's commands or not. I would hope God would have no issue with homosexuality, but that hope is based upon an extrinsic sense of morality.
