I bet this is a preview of what Leopard is gonna look like.
I wonder if we'll see a new iPod updater, and FrontRow update soon.

That looks great, and would be fine for touch-input (if it has wrist-wrests); but that's a horrible angle for a screen: you'd have to crouch over it to use it.
It's actually the screen they will use for all old people who have droopy heads...
Regardless, here's hoping that tomorrow they release an iMac refresh to cover up some of the death grip publicity of the iFailphone 4.

Im loving the iPhone 4 camera, and improving further is great... except for megapixels! High MP is a marketing bullet point that wastes storage space for most purposes (and increases noise, even if the image is later scaled smaller).
Id like to see the spec wars peter out at 5 MP, but I guess its not to be...

When you study harmony, who are you going to study the most? Bach
When you study Music History of the Baroque era, who is going to take the biggest part of the semester? Bach.
When you study Harpsichord or organ, who is the biggest composer you are going to study? Bach. Even when you do piano, you are going to study Bach at leas at the beginning before your Liszt and Rachmaninoff.
I know they teach popular music at universities. The course on popular is music is optional. My wife took a course on popular music at Montreal university. They studied the Beatles for about 20 minutes of the whole semester. I did my bachelor's in the USA, my master's in Paris, DEM in Paris and my doctorate at Montreal. I know 20 is minutes is the most the Beatles are going to get. That's how important they are to music history. Perhaps, they are important in popular music.
You think you know about music, but your knowledge is very limited. It is just plain ridiculous to compare them to Bach.
I never said nobody studies Bach when studying music. Of course they do. Even The Beatles did. But you were implying that no one studies The Beatles period, which just isn't true. And as a side note, there is no way to study Music History of the Baroque era in relation to The Beatles considering they weren't alive in the Baroque era. :)
And aren't you just a bit arrogant to assume to know my musical background? Please come off your high horse. You may not like The Beatles but to say they contribute/contributed nothing to music is ridiculous.

Your point would be valid IF SHE HAD A FAMILY TO HAUL AROUND ANYMORE.
Both her children have their own vehicles and they no longer take long family vacations in the car anymore.
The wasting of a finite resource and pollution put out by a vehicle that large to drive 3 miles to and from the grocery store has no justification.
And yes, I do feel good about myself. I drive a vehicle that gets 95+ mpg.
I fail to see how it is your business what car they drive whether it gets 95 mpg or 2 mpg and whether they have 7,000 kids or none.
Get over yourself.

The G5 cases were/are absolutely giant -- to accommodate the massive amount of airflow the G5 chip needed. With this Intel chip running much cooler, it shouldn't require the need of a giant case with huge heat sinks.

Just thought I'd post some information that I found about this. I don't understand a lot of the technical talk but the other stuff I do.

It'll be $129 the same as ALL of the past upgrades except for Snow Leopard which was Leopard but just a slimmed-down, rewriting of the OS. Apple felt that without a lot of core new features being added, they would give the public a break and just charge a nominal fee for Snow Leopard, rather than the typical $129.
Don't listen to anyone who says differently. It will be $129.
It will be $99.

Let my voice ring clear, loud, and somber: this is not the time to be an Apple apologist. To sit back and blame a component manufacturer is to lose the point of power which comes from taking total responsibility for a shipping product, a feat which no PC manufacturer or Microsoft have ever attempted or likely will.
We and Apple should take our lumps as they have been served to us, thank these people for pointing out a weakness, apologize, strengthen and move on.

I don't think that they're in any danger of that. This was a sneak peek. It was not a Beta Release, it is not a "features complete" release. Come January, if there aren't major improvements, then I think what you're suggesting could be discussed further. Until then, it's not fair to say that Leopard isn't going to be a success. We simply don't know enough about the final version to make any level of educated statement in that regard.
The only problem with that is from a business standpoint, Apple needed to come out and shine. In previous releases, Win XP was just a stagnant operating system, so OS X always looked light years ahead.
The deal now is that Apple is on a head to head collision course with Microsoft as to whose OS grabs the consumer. I just think Apple had a huge opportunity to get the Mac Community excited or would be Mac users excited and to completely outshine Vista, and they didn't reach nearly as high as they should have.
I have no question in my mind that Leopard will be amazing, it will have a number of great new features, it will be fast, etc... but Apple had tons of amazing products in the mid-1990s that were poorly executed and died before they ever got off the ground. These products died from a business end, not a technological end.

The rumor was false, because Apple will be announcing the product that is replacing the MacBook Pro, the iPad-Pro ;-)

Being a professional myself I remember having those fears a few years ago. In fact we lost a large client because one of the employees thought that her high school son could do the same level of work that we did. If that were true I would say shame on us, in reality the client came back to us a few months later when the kid couldn't actually produce the same level of edit quality and creativity that we do.
The price drop doesn't bother me one bit. I think if anything it does open up the door for a teenager to start learning on high end software, then by the time they've finished college and have a sense of who they are as an editor they'll be a welcome, proficient addition, to someones company. I think it serves everyone in the end.
Great post and the kind of logic that this new FCPX will bring to those wanting to get into the video production industry. I'm almost 4 years into my video editing "career" and still forward people to the pros for projects that are too much for me and ones that I know my skill level limits on. I'm excited about this new version, hoping it will expand my skills even more.

Merom in the iMacIntel does leave a space in the lineup for the Conroe Mini-Tower.
Enough already with Mini-Tower crap. It will never happen. Apple does not like to copy the PC world.
Except for swapping out a video card, why would anyone need one! You have two options, an iMac or a Mac Mini.

This is a very hollow argument. For this to be valid, you have to only consider five year old computers. Consider any computer that is about two years old, and you have computers that, on the one hand, shipped with Windows XP and, on the other hand, shipped with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Now, we have the release of Leopard and Vista! Mac users pay... $129! Windows users pay... $399! Which is cheaper?
lol, please be honest, in next 5 years, you will need only update windows once (XP->Vista), and you will need to update OSX at least 3 times. Apple is ripping people off on this, there is no question about it, all these ".1" incremental update should not have a price more than $60 at all.

Bringing them both to the same level creates the same problem Apple used to have... many (including myself) can easily justify getting MacBook instead of the MacBook Pro because the MacBook does everything you need the Pro version to do.
Sigh. The MBP offers a lot more than a faster CPU. Larger screen, dedicated GPU, better I/O, backlit keyboard to mention a few things. The MBP is a portable workstation and the MB is a notebook.

Great product from Apple, and the rumors got it wrong with release date and screen size.

Dude, that's the specs for the current Macbook.
Yes but it does clearly state Core 2 Duo in the product name and the release date of 13th November, they could have just copied the spec of the existing one as they are unsure of the new spec. What is telling is the date, they obviously expect it to happen on the 13th

To all those cutting military by huge percentages, what are your plans to deal with the millions of unemployed that would produce?
I'd move a lot of the defense spending to NASA, renewable energy, infrastructure projects, and job training. The first three can employ a lot of the engineers that are put out of work, and the job training helps the rest be prepared for new more useful jobs.

Can we get the new ones with the school promotion?
nope, i called the store, and they will not do the new nano's with the school discount, but aparently they will do the new videos
seems kinda sly to unload the old nanos on poor students.

For those complaining about costs - ever thought that maybe the whole purpose of negotiation is for the carrier to host and distribute those updates free of charge to end users rather than chewing up customer's monthly traffic allowance?
