How cool would it be if apple released a 10th anniversary edition ipod classic that was 320gb (double current) and also came with a cable that could attach to an ipad and the ipod would act as a media drive to play music and movies off of.

Sept 12: Supposed release date of new Nanos
Sept 16: End of "Buy a Mac, get a free Nano" promotion.
Either there is going to be a four day mac shopping spree or perhaps iPods aren't going to be the subject of the event.

The Beatles: Four guys who needed each other, because individually they were musical infants.
No, thanks.
Really? Are you 12? If so then I can understand. Aside from Ringo they all went out and had not only successful solo careers but also continued to influence other artists and music as a whole. C'mon. Lennon and McCartney obviously did. Harrison was the most under rated. He was the leader of the Traveling Wilbury's(Great Band) and many looked up to him. All things must Pass- Great F'in album.

My Prediction (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=2822513&postcount=376)
"I really expect it to be a mixture of a let down and goodness. There is likely going to be new nanos, I work at the 5th Ave. CompUSA and can tell you that we are out of almost all the nanos. That never happens, we are also out of the iSight, both the 5th Ave. and SoHo Apple stores are too. We are also out of all the Shuffles too. Expect to see new nanos and an iSight. Of course the Video Store rumors are all but confirmed, so expect a rename of the Music Store to something more fitting, as well as iTunes 7.0.
Definitely:
- iPod G6 (most likely 16x9)
- Movie Downloads
Possible:
- nanos (higher capacity, new look)
- iSight (higher resolution, much smaller form factor, connect to iPod)
- iPod line division (Dedicated Music iPod vs. Video iPod)
- iTunes 7.0
- Airport Express with Video (Showtime)
- New iPod Shuffle or discontinuation
Unlikely:
- iPod G6 with WiFi for mobile downloads and iChat video conferencing (with optional iSight attachment)
- High Def. movies
- MacBook Pro w/ Merom
Now for a guess of the pricing:
2 GB nano: $129.99
4 GB nano: $199.99
8 GB nano: $249.99
60 GB iPod Video: $299.99
80 GB iPod Video: $399.99"
Pretty darn close, I was off on some of the prices.
I guess I'm just a good guesser?
Edit: Originally thought it was 60 & 80 GB models introduced, guess I was off on capacity as well.

Thats a big expense and a very big risk. I dont think so.
Did you read the recent article on the history of the iPhone?
If i read it correctly i think it said in it that while negotiating with the carriers they said they were more then willing to buy up minutes and become a carrier themselves

Apple, you have that fixed in iTunes yet? I'd like to see the Cancel button actually work and also the ability to selectively rip or bypass any one song I want to on my disk.
You can do that now. Put in a CD and deselect the check mark to the left for any song you don't want ripped. I do it all the time.

I don't see how adjusting the UI at the last minute could be any sort of OK. Do you really want developers using the Tiger finder for the next 7 months, and then all of the sudden Apple goes BAM (Emeril Style) and puts in a brand new finder.
a) apple did the exact same thing with OS X. aqua was kept under wraps for a long, long time from the general public and public developers. up until maybe a year before hand we all though OS X was going to look like OS 9.
b) if you work with big software makers you'll know that top tier developers get access to things that aren't made publicly available months and years in advance. the last alpha/beta cycle i participated in started one month after the latest release (and i was on the second invite list).
I want those developers to be able to integrate the finder with their apps. If all Apple is doing is adjusting some colors or icons or something, then we shouldn't be excited about the new finder in the first place. But if Apple is going to do some major revamping, shame on them for keeping it a secret.
People need time to work with it and find all the kinks, especially if it is dramatically different from Tiger
a) see above regarding developers. just because we didn't see it in the keynote doesn't mean that the developers haven't
b) app developers don't really integrate with the finder.
c) tiger represented a big shift in OS X development. apple publicly stated that their APIs, previously a moving target, were basically being locked down. what that means is developers don't have to worry (as much) about under the hood changes. if the file browser dialog changes dramatically between now and next spring developers should theoretically have to do nothing, their function/method calls are just calls.

I am a fan of mechanical keyboards. They are clunky and loud, but allows me to type very fast. Also, I'll probably type the apple keyboard to death in less than a month because I tend to bang on the keys.
The model I have now is Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite for Mac. The touch is fairly good but it has an eccentric layout that makes is difficult for me to blind-touch the command key. I hope to get a Matias Tactile Pro 3 soon.
I like noisy keyboards. I remember an old IBM computer I had...

This is getting closer to an iPal - a handheld computer that does it all. That is my next purchase. It needs to be small but with a full screen and real-world-rugged. Will Apple release it this year?

The banner is current products (other than the Tiger disc) and is being waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy over analysed.
You are right!
Nothing new here!
I'm really looking forward to see what's happening on 10th August, even if I am not in the market for new gear, except for a new iPod.
A week to go. Nice.

BREAKEVEN: is 25 MILLIONS TRACKS DOWNLOADED!!!
OUCH!
The Beatles are OLD and HISTORY.
They will NEVER break even on this contract.
They'd BETTER sell an Beatles IPOD, maybe 10 different ones.
They will only breakeven on hardware.
You miss an important point. It is all about branding. I think that both Apples would do very well her thank you very much, but getting the Beatles would be a very huge coup for Apple and online music in general. iTunes and the like are still relatively small compared to CD and other music sales. You may be someone who has been on board for along time, but the HALO effect here would me immense. Sort of the the big increase in MAC users (from PCs) due to iPod sales.

well, I've ordered my 24" iMac.
Stock-standard, 2-4 days shipping. Well, stock-standard barring the 2 x 1GB Corsair sticks I've already bought to go in it... :P

I just hope that the videos come to Australia when they are announced in the USA.
If the movie store is announced on the 12th, I'm guessing the Aussie store will arrive some time in 2009 :) though maybe movies don't have as messed up distribution rights as music, but don't hold your breath.

you can judge me all you want ... my family is both Canadian and American.
I live on both sides of the border.
sorry if I do not support everyone's Anti-American Military views.
Cutting the Military is not for me ... Even though I would have to pay higher taxes, I'd rather scrap all these Government Casinos and Government Bookies we have up in Canada than reduce even one dollar in Military spending.
You still have not explained your position. Why does a country NEED such a large military budget and how does it benefit the citizens of said country?

This sounds like a new feature for iOS 5. I'm surprised that nothing has leaked out in regards to what iOS 5 has to offer. The rumor is it's supposed to be a major revamp of the OS, but I am really excited to see it in about a month.

this may be a dumb question, but what is the difference between all those versions? I mean, between "Upgrade" and "Regular Price"? What's considered an upgrade

I wonder if they'll have a "complete catalog" package?
Now that would be expensive!!!
I like the idea of The Beatles catalog being available on iTunes, but for me, I'd be most interested in getting CD's of the remastered music so I can rip at my preferred bit rate. :)
Is this all part of Paul's plan to stay solvent through his divorce?

Like Apple gives a rat's ass.
Took them like over 2 years to get something as basic as MMS on "the world's most advanced phone", why would they care about flash?
