i havent had any random shut downs on my blackbook or even had it that hot. i do use smc fan control and leave it at 3303 rpm keeps it at about 52-54

What happened to it?

The palm rest (which has already been replaced once) is chipping up from the corner. Its also lifting up from the left side next to the CAPS LOCK button. A few keys (shift and the arrows) are getting mushy. The screen bezel is coming off from the right side. The top of it is chipping off as well.

There are also hairline cracks where the heat is released. Finally the bottom of the thing is heat discolored very dark.

My wife has a new unibody Macbook and the build construction is so much better than my old whitebook.

Still on the fence about getting the 11.6" mba. While small, I think multitasking will be a nightmare on it. So cute though!

IMHO the white leaves different marks that are just as back...after awhile ull get a bunch of scuff marks that make the finish look more greyish brown...this is why i hated iBooks

Officially, no.

If you can believe this post (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=2891746#post2891746), then yes, it was announced to Apple's service providers. These pictures (http://www.flickr.com/photos/99055354@N00/271937310/in/photostream/) show the difference between designs of the two heatsinks.

Wasn't Tandy sort of a big name in computers back in the 80's? It seems like when I was little quite a few people had Tandy computers from RS.

I had a TRS-80 Color Computer 2 around 1984 when I was 11 and later a Tandy 1000HX. I loved radio shack, not sure why all the hate from here... Being a real store of course an adapter, wire, or plug will cost more from them; but they usually have them in stock and will take returns if it is wrong. I went looking for a few obscure parts and they do still stock them, its just they are in the long pull-out drawers so its not so obvious what they have. Plus they are usually kept up nice and are local; I wish Apple could partner with them for computer sales as well. The local store orders food from my restaurant all the time, so I would love to give them business.

I guess if her main criteria for car choice is killing people in small cars then she has picked the right car.

I suggest a thread on vehicle selection. My new bud, iliketyla, and I are on the case. He, iliketyia, has a scooter and I have a well equipped SUV. My nano is hooked into the sound system his, I suspect, is hooked into ear buds.

So, my dream car is the Audi A8. How about you?

Luckily you don't have to choose for the 7300... you can get the better 7600 inside. Not brilliant, but it's better.

So that must be it for the ATI partnership, or at least the first nail in the coffin. Nvidia is a good move anyway.

Ok I guess i won't be able to get the new nano with the student offer, which doesn;t bother me that much as I *should* get a hundred pounds back. However as it seems the price has gone down a little on the 4GB nano i added does that mean i still have to pay the old price? That seems a little unfair when it hasn't even shipped yet I'm paying more then if I had waited a couple of days? I ordered on Friday btw.

Well my MB was bought the day they were announced - my local Apple store didn't have them on display yet :) and mine hasn't had the shutdown issue.

Don't worry.

If the Chinese economy keeps growing at the same rate over the next decade they will be setting up manufacturing plants in the USA to take advantage of the cheap American labour. ;)

Haier, a Chinese company, currently manufactures appliances in South Carolina. Labor costs are not that relevant in modern manufacturing because of the level of automation.

Sorry to hear about your experience. No company is perfect and every one screws up sometime or other. In my years of experience with Apple, they seem to screw up a whole lot less than any other computer maker I've ever dealt with. For instance, I had to sue a certain Texas company to get them to honor their warranty. Never had to do that with Apple. :)

As far as overhyped...that is your opinion. 5 decent songs? Also your opinion. Obviously people disagree with your opinions, or there would be no need for this thread.

The bottom line is that whatever you want to think of them, the impact they had on a generation can't be denied. Almost half a century later, everyone still knows who they are. That isn't the result of five decent songs. I'm not sure if it's just ignorance or stubbornness, but your comment makes it hard to take you seriously.

And if your Dad can write a song like Imagine, then I'd love to meet him.

The same could be said for Madonna. Her impact wasn't the result of five decent songs either. Both the Beatles and Madonna have both transcended music, in a way that Bach just hasn't done.
