I'm really tempted to get this and go play it on my friends Xbox 360. I keep hearing a bunch of good things about. Some say it is even better than Halo 1. I wont know this till I try it as Halo 1 is my favorite out of the three but who knows, I might be very surprised!
It is kind of hard to compare the two. Halo 1 was amazing for what it brought to the console gaming world. It was a fun world to explore and experience, along with being a very competent shooter. Reach is an amazing game, for other reasons. The new motion-capture for characters and cutscenes really works well, and makes them feel much more human than before. The facial animation, specifically, is excellent, and you get so much emotion and nuance in the cutscenes that Halo games could never do. But beyond all that, it is a very well paced game, with a great story, fun and varied gameplay, and tons of action. It 10+ years of "Halo" refined and condensed into one single experience, and is a very exciting ride.
After all is said and done, I would rank them like this....
1 - ODST
2 - Halo: CE
3 - Reach
4 - Halo 3
5 - Halo 2
....but there is a large gap between 3 and 4. I like Halo 2 and 3, but in my opinion, those other 3 games are miles better, not only from a story standpoint, but the gameplay as well. But on a whole, I've been very happy with the Halo series. Lots of ups and downs in the series and the stories within, but it has been blast playing through them.

I can't wait for Apple to start selling this somewhere pleasant. :(
Like the apple store?
Lol, Joking....The Apple store, while certainly a "neat" place, has never been an all-around pleasant experience for me. The place is constantly packed to the brim with people just gawking and getting whatever they just picked up at the food court thoroughly smeared all over everything while they check facebook.

I assume the Merom is inside?
But these babies are gr8 value!
Luckily you don't have to choose for the 7300... you can get the better 7600 inside. Not brilliant, but it's better.

Maybe it is a reflection of a parts shortage to be?
I still love my Classic.

"Jesus the Son of God" derives his very legitimacy through the alleged fulfilling of Old Testament prophecies. For a Christian to "avoid reading the old testament" is surely to deny his paternity.
Excellent point Skunk and I agree completely. Believers should make it priority to read and understand all of God's word, but unfortunately, like anything in life, sometimes we avoid what we find difficult , what we don't understand, or what we don't enjoy.
The sad fact is that many people who profess to be followers of Jesus don't spend the amount of time in the Bible that they should. It's not just an old vs. new testament thing it's a reading and studying the Bible at all thing. I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know as we have discussed it before in other threads. Christians who don't understand or know their faith well sometimes do more harm than good by spreading misinformation. If they would actually deepen their relationship with God through consistent time in his word then they would be a better representation of the truth the scriptures lay out.
However, I should point out that faith is a growing process. The goal is that people will mature in their faith over time as they grow in knowledge of and relationship with the Lord. I am not discouraged by new believers who are just starting out on in their walk with Christ. It's the long time believers who have neglected God's word or chosen to adhere to tradition over revealed truth that frustrate me.

An Imac.
With a mobile CPU and GPU. Like I said, what do you buy if you want desktop performance (ie:2.4+Ghz C2D, 4 RAM slots, real GPU, 2+HDD bays)?
The only option is a Mac Pro.

Logic is the perfect comparison. Audio guys had the exact same reaction when Logic 8 and 9 first appeared - it seemed to look more like GB so they assumed it was a toy with features stripped out. In fact, it removed nothing and added quite a few features valuable to pros (and in later versions fixed a LOT of bugs). What's the old clich about judging a book by its cover?
Logic Pro is a hybrid 32 / 64 bit digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer software application for the Mac OS X platform.Logic 8 has new processing plug-in (Delay Designer), Apple included features such as Quick Swipe Comping, similar to Soundtrack Pro 2, and multi-take management.

From the iPod release thread; "All that hype for an MP3 player? Break-thru digital device? The Reality Distiortion Field is starting to warp Steve's mind if he thinks for one second that this thing is gonna take off."
Hah! Wow, all the angry comments of people who were so, so wrong.
Does this mean that people don't know what's good for them until its drummed into their heads for a while?
that is exactly what it means. those posts are funny from the ipod thread in 2001. look at where the ipod is now. i bet they all feel like losers.

$239 for a bloated DRM infested OS is outrageous.
I've tried several Vista betas and IMHO it's a pile of crap. It's arguably the largest (unecessary) resource hog of an OS that I've ever seen.
I see more visual effects in OSX and it's 10000000x easier on a computer. For crying out loud, OSX runs on G3s. 6+ year old computers. On the other side of the coin I guarantee you that you won't see Vista running on a Pentium 3...ever.
Microsoft is dropping the ball with Vista big time. 6 skus (3 for home users, 3 for businesses), ridiculous hardware requirements, and this pricing is the icing on the cake.
I'll stick with the 1-2 combo of XP and Win2k for my Windows computing; thanks for offering though, Redmond. Try again.

Eh. He's replaceable. With any one of a massive raft of iPhone devs who would be more than eager to step in to replace him. Facebook doesn't really have much of a choice about developing for iPhone considering it's (iPhone) the rising star in the smartphone market, that people are clamoring for and waiting sometimes 8 weeks to buy one. If there is no Facebook app for iPhone, owners will go pounding on Facebook's door, not Apple's.
Absolutely spot on taster! There are thousands of talented developers willing to put up with the process. The iPhone is too important to FB, and FB is too important to Apple.
There are clearly improvements that users have been clamoring for that Joe has apparently resisted or doesn't know how to implement with Apple's blessings. These are features others have gotten by the App Store approval police, so this is probably a good thing for those of us who have been hoping for more from this app.

I recently read an article that outlined the orchestration of product release by Apple. In a nutshell, Apple does't want to release too many products in one setting because 1. each new release potentially overshadows the next 2. media buzz will die down in a couple weeks. Apple wants to keep their name in the news as much as possible so they make major announcements, in drips and drabs. Of course this may or may not apply to this new event, but i would speculate that they would not release a new iPod and a 23" iMac in the same event. Apple depends on maximum buzz with the release of the new iPods and I don't think they would take the shance that a new iMac would overshadow it completely. Thoughts?
Well, I believe that Apple WILL introduce an iPod alongside a Mac, as they did last october. A new Mac isn't worth the cover of TIME, but a new iPod is. By introducing a Mac at the same time, it shares the spotlight. Last year when the video iPod came out, the new iMac G5 with iSight also made the cover of TIME, but it wouldn't have if there wasn't a video iPod next to it.
What you say applies to multiple iPods; Apple wouldn't introduce the 6G iPod alongside a new nano.

I feel it is highly likely we will see a new tiny laptop from Apple at some point in 2007.
Intel will be releasing Merom next spring, AND an ultra-low voltage version for tiny laptops.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2#Merom_2
There used to be more detail there but it seems to have gone.
Still baffled as to why Apple stopped the 12'' PB, but maybe they felt they wouldn't sell enough in 9 months to recover the costs of designing an intel core version, before needing a major redesign for the 2007 tiny laptop.
Wait wait.... we're getting all hot and bothered about Core 2 Duo... and you're telling me a new chip will be out in a few months...
I can't keep up!

Switched to macs back in 2001 and while I love the OS I have had a continuous stream of hardware problems with all apple products I have bought:
iBook G3: logic board died and replaced 3 times
iMac G5: CPU got so hot the machine almost melted! So far I have had the logic board replaced 3 times.
MacBook: Random shutdown syndrome, faulty mouse and track pad, palm rest discoloration. Currently in for repair again!
iPod: hard disk and battery both died
EDIT: and don't get me started about the abomination that is the so called mighty mouse. The thing barely lasted a week!
Apple have really got to get there quality control sorted out. So what if the OS is great if the continual hardware faults mean you can't actually use the damn thing!
One cheesed off mac user.
Your experience is clearly not representative. My family and I have had 9 Macs, and no hardware problems ever. And large surveys, including those by PC Magazine and Consumer Reports, have shown that Apple desktops require significantly fewer repairs than any other brand out there.
Either you are trolling, or you are the most unlucky Mac user I have ever heard of...

Run on a G3? How well. I use to have problems with the speed of Panther on my G4 iMac.
Tiger seems to run better than Panther on the G3 iMacs I have at home.
One is a 400mhz G3 with 320mb RAM and it runs fine with Tiger.
But, I have noticed Tiger runs crud on one of my friends 800mhz G4 iMacs.
How odd.
The cost of Vista is very comparible to XP (especially at launch). But it is too much for a new verison of Windows. Especially since every reason to upgrade has been stripped out and slated to arrive in a "service pack" sometime later "this decade".
